Would you like to join us in celebrating the joy of movement and activity?
There are many people out there that don’t have the freedom to move, to run, or exercise, and so we are not only celebrating what we can do, but we are raising money for those less able!
We are aiming to increase awareness about the matter by raising money for a non-profit organization, called “SUHANJ”.
Through planning and carrying out a 24-hour run during the spring of 2023, we’re going to support the foundation, which specializes in sharing the joy of doing sports with people who have physical disabilities, visual impairments and able-bodied athletes.
To prepare and manage this project, our team will work very hard, aiming to collect as much funds as possible, and help the wonderful non-profit organization, relying on just you and us to operate! In fact, you too can find out about our plans, and how you could contribute to helping us achieve our goals in this blog!
To start things off, we are going to do the run in groups of 4 or 6, taking turns to vary the teams for the entire duration of the 24 hours. This means that the entire group of volunteers for the project will spend the day, (and night), at the location. (Some may think this impossible, but our team thinks of it as an act of support, and a showcase of our motivation to help the “SUHANJ” organization, as well as mentally/physically disabled people.)
Our location of choice are the premises of The British International School of Budapest, where we will take advantage of the Schools's facilities (the football field and running track).
‘Muscle fuel’ and Water will be available to purchase on site, brought as your own stash of food (or order a pizza). First-aid kits and medical treatment (if needed) will be available on the premises as well.
Now, you might be wondering just how we are going to run for 24 hours without ANY SLEEP?! We believe sleeping bags and tents will do the trick! As we are running in rotations, we will have plenty of time to rest and re-charge as other teams take their turns. Also, the security guards from BISB will be with us as well for the entire 24 hours of running to take care of our safety.
Now that you’re well aware of our great idea, what do you think? Do you wish to be part of our mission? We kindly accept donations and any support of the charity, but even spreading the word about our project would be A-ma-zing! If you have any comments or suggestions for us, do not hesitate to tell us! Comment under the blog, send us an email, or simply, talk to any of us about it!
Until next time,
The blog team! 😊
