Tip #1

As our first post to help you all prepare for the 24 hour challenge, we thought we would give you some top tips on leading a healthy life. Training for a big event isn't just about running, running, running, it is about establishing a healthy lifestyle.

● Exercise is important, obviously, but how much, how intense? The key is to try to exercise daily if you can, but this exercise should be conversational, fun and not intense. Occasionally (once or twice a week) you should push yourself for more intense exercise.

● Strength training: whether in the gym or at home with a few dumbbells, strength training helps you build an overall stronger body, tougher bones, more balance and agility.

● Eat REAL food: avoid microwave meals, processed and packaged foods wherever you can. Real food = real nutrition.

● Cultivate genuine relationships - with everyone. Make sure your relationships are happy, caring and you respect the people you choose to spend your time with. This will make your life more genuine.

● Sleep for a minimum of 7 hours. This might involve being more disciplined with the time you go to bed, or putting your phone away, but it is worth it longer term.

● Don’t smoke. Enough said.

● Find ways to cope with stress. Some stress is a good thing- it pushes us out of our comfort zone. But learning how to manage and benefit from constructive stress is essential. Yoga, a walk, meditation, socialising, reading a book are all ways to take a mental time out.
